Our History
August 1991: first gathering of Muslim women to discuss forming their own organisation.
February 1992: First official meeting of Islamic Women’s Association of Queensland.
July 1992: IWAQ became incorporated
November 1992: First AGM
1995 – 1996: First recurrent Settlements grants, literacy grant
1997 – 1999: First Aged Care & Disabilities funding
1999: IWAQ officially launched aged care program at IWAQ
2000: IWAQ hosts its first Iftar
2001: IWAQ purchases its first property – located in Sunnybank.
2005: IWAQ received funding for its first respite cottage.
2006: IWAQ purchases its second property – located in Sunnybank.
2008: IWAQ purchases its third property – located n Runcorn.
2010: IWAQ purchases property in Springwood.
2012: IWAQ celebrates 20 years’ birthday.
